When did you join the Pye family?
It’ll be 5 years in June.
What was your first role at Pye, and the path to your current role?
My background is in banking, retail, and management. I joined Pye Motors in to the newly created role of Marketing Co-ordinator. My role is to support and unify the marketing activities around the group providing a single point of contact for all things marketing. Since then, the role has grown and developed such that an assistant was needed and subsequently my role became that of Marketing Manager.
What does a typical day at work look like?
With the coffee brewing, my morning routine begins by going through my inbox and responding to enquiries. I review our advertising campaigns, adverts, and marketing plans and make tweaks to optimise their performance and ensure they are meeting our operational and strategic goals.
The daily tasks of the role are varied but include: keeping the website content up to date, maintaining accurate customer records ensuring customer permissions are respected and updated in a timely manner in line with Data Protection. I have to prepare quarterly marketing plans and submit regular reports to our Ford partners.
As a business Pye strives to be relevant to their customers, this requires me to keep myself up to date with the latest tools and marketing trends through ongoing training and researching new marketing opportunities. Our latest exciting project is the building of a completely new website. It’s a big project which involves lots of internal discussions with colleagues from across the group. We hope to provide a much more engaging customer experience -no pressure there then!
What do you most enjoy about your role at Pye?
My role crosses into many different areas of the business and I really enjoy the variety that this brings. Also, I get to meet a lot of the staff, and as cheesy as it is to say this – it’s the people that make the business that make the job enjoyable and rewarding.
What are you most excited by within the business?
The dynamism and current pace of change within the business is exciting. The business never stops evolving and we currently have numerous exciting projects on the go. We are constantly looking at ways to improve the customer experience. Sustainability is a hot topic. We are fitting circa 396 solar panels (150.5KW!) to the rooftop of our Morecambe dealership to help to reduce our carbon footprint and looking at how we can reduce our impact on the environment through adopting new and emerging technologies.
On the Ford front there is the transition to electric cars and vans. There is some clever technology in the space and I find it very interesting.
Within your role what are you most proud about?
Developing what was a new-to-the-business-role into a fully-fledged and integral part of the Pye business structure.
What vehicle do you currently drive?
On weekdays it’s a sporty Ford Fiesta – practical and economical, great for the commute. At the weekends I have a van in which I’ll throw my outdoor kit and head off to the hills or a lake!
What's in your boot?
A selection of outdoor sports equipment as I am a keen fell walker and paddleboarder.
What would be your dream vehicle to drive?
Being a James Bond fan, I have to say that my dream car would be an Aston Martin, and of the current crop, I’d choose a DB11.
