Pye Motors quadruples its footprint in Barrow-in-Furness with multi million pound acquisition as it nears 100 year anniversary

Family owned Pye Motors group who operate three Ford Dealerships in Lancaster and the South Lakeland areas have added a significant asset to their portfolio, picking up the keys to the former Furness Park site on Abbey Road. Pye Motors, the near 100-year-old multi Ford Chairmans award-winning Ford franchise partner, has been associated with Barrow since it acquired premises on Holker street in 1996 before, moving to James Freel Close in 2006. Local demand for their services has seen them outgrow this site though and the ex-Furness Park facility on Abbey Road offers them a significantly larger site with operational improvements to benefit their customers.

Nick Payne, MD of Pye Motors described the opportunity to invest the town; “Abbey Road is a big part in our strategic future. I am delighted to have bought another family owned site. We are a people business with family values and it suits our growing footprint perfectly. The site will enable us to support local people and local business’ in equal measure as the town continues to go from strength to strength. We have passion to grow and excel in what is a very exciting time for our business and the sector”.

The acquisition of Abbey Road quadruples the footprint of the Ford dealer in the town, doubling both the workshop and showroom space. With growth and investment comes opportunity and Pye Motors will be looking to recruit additional staff to strengthen the team and continue to provide the Award Winning levels of service in all departments at the site.

Phil Batty who leads the Sales Team at Pye Motors Barrow, said “We will be increasing the volume of vehicles on offer at the site, with a greater variety of cars, vans and pick-ups to ensure a fantastic choice of vehicles is available for all of our customers; existing, new, business and personal. The increased workshop capacity will reduce customer lead times, help a faster turnaround of our stock and allow us more room for electric vehicle servicing”.

The 16 staff currently employed at James Freel Close will relocate to the new premises once the buildings have been refurbished to meet the exacting Ford dealer standards, at which time additional staff will be recruited.
