Our people make Pye. We couldn’t offer exceptional customer service without investing in our team.
We offer a number of opportunities across our three Pye dealerships for people to join the Pye family, but one we’re particularly proud of is our apprenticeship programme.
We know that investing, recruiting and believing in young people is central to finding loyal, happy and hard-working employees for the future of our business in the ever-changing automotive world. As such, apprenticeships are a key part of our people strategy.
An apprenticeship is a contracted position where the employee learns, gains qualifications, and earns wages at the same time. The working week is split 80% at their place of employment ‘on the job’ and the remainder at college to earn a recognised qualification and apprenticeship standard. At Pye, our apprentices learn at local colleges across our region such as Lancaster Training Services (LTS) or through the Ford Apprentice Scheme. Sometimes, a blend of both.
We take on students straight from school leavers, so aged 16+ generally up to A Level age.
We take on apprentices in a number of different departments –
Parts Department – Central to our service department and in many ways the unsung heroes of our aftersales offering. They make sure we carry the key parts to ensure we can keep our customers and their businesses on the road. If you’re wanting an opportunity to develop your skills and help in the smooth running of this department, then this could be the role for you.
Service Department – We offer both customer facing and workshops apprenticeships. It’s a fantastic time to join the industry with the mature technologies of petrol and diesel powertrains but also opportunities to get ahead of the curve in learning about hybrid and all-electric powertrains. Whether front of house or in the workshop, you’ll get the very best training with the Ford Apprentice Scheme.
Bodyshop – From assessing bodywork damage to deciding the best course of action and getting the vehicles back to top condition. From a scratch or an insurance claim, you will cover it all. Our bodyshop is equipped with the very best technology to help get vehicles back on the road as soon as possible.
Sales Department – You’ll gain a thorough knowledge of Ford cars including the new hybrid and electric vehicles and learn how to promote the brand. We offer training on a number of customer service skills across all channels face to face, over the telephone and video calls and how these can help the customer first discover their new vehicle. We also cover an understanding of the numerous finance & leasing solutions.

Yes, we do – our apprentices are extremely valuable to the company and we continue to support and invest in training throughout your employment.
We have 120 employees across each of the four branches, of which 5% are currently apprentices. Of our apprentices, six of them have progressed to be Team Leaders or Senior staff who are still currently employed by us.
One of our longest serving staff members, Steve Turner started as an apprentice back in 1976 and has progressed on to be a Team Leader – that’s an impressive 46 years of employment with us!
Many of our apprenticeships approach us through local colleges or recommendations to us as an established local family run business.
