It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Santa’s sleigh is flying across the sky, snow is falling, and shopping is on everyone’s minds. Thankfully, you needn’t worry about rushing to the shops after work, fiddling with your change and waiting in the cold for your parking ticket to print. Free Christmas Parking has been implemented across the region. On selected dates, you can park for free, meander around town and find a gift for that special someone.
Lancaster and Morecambe
Until December 22nd, main pay and display car parks will be free to use on Sundays. While on Thursdays, council run pay and display areas will be free from 5pm until 8am for extended shopping hours. Shops will be open until 9pm on select dates and the St. Nics Shopping Centre car park will accommodate this by remaining open until 9pm.
As for Morecambe, free parking will extend to Billy Hill and Pedder Street until 5pm.
Sadly, this excludes privately owned car parks like Marketgate Shopping Centre, Parksafe, Williamson’s Park, and on street pay and display and residential parking.
Barrow
Each year Barrow hosts their ‘Free After 3’ scheme for evening shoppers. In the Multi-Storey and Whittaker Street car parks you can enjoy free parking throughout December. The Multi-Storey gives you instant access to Wilko's and Debenhams, while the Whittaker Street car park provides access to the bottom end of Dalton Road and M&S.
Launched in 2016, this fantastic scheme gives workers and students the opportunity to shop and truly experience the festive hustle and bustle, twinkling lights included.
Kendal
Throughout the festive season take advantage of Kendal’s free Sunday parking. Until the 22nd December, Blackhall Road, Booths, Dowker Lane, Highgate, Parish Church, Library Road, Peppercorn Lane, Kendal Museum, Kendal College, Sandes Avenue, South Lakeland House and Westmorland Shopping Centre, are open to all.
Some locations close at 6pm while others are open 24/7, so make sure you read the rules before parking.
From everyone at Pye Motors, have a very merry Christmas! And, if you’re in the area, why not pop into one of our branches?
