We are excited to share that we are the proud supporters of the national crisp packet recycling scheme, with our Petrol Station being the first collector in the Morecambe and Lancaster area.
With the UK alone sending 6 billion crisp packets a year to landfill, we wanted to make a change and provide back to our community.
The crisp packet recycling scheme is an initiative set up by TerraCycle and Walkers. TerraCycle aim is to recycle the ‘non-recyclable’ and avoid millions of pounds of waste from landfills and incinerators each year.
Pye’s independent petrol station is to be the official collector for all branded crisp packets. Any brand of crisp packet will be accepted. Once collected, the crisp packets are separated by plastic type, cleaned, and extruded into plastic pellets to make new recycled products. For every 400 packets collected, TerraCycle will provide £2 monetary reward to a non-for-profit organisation and/or local charity of choice.
