Did you know Pye Motors has been in the business since 1925? We even took part in the war effort, building and supplying engines for aircrafts and the land barge engines which were used during the D Day landings.
But that’s just one chapter of our interesting history. Our story began in Lancaster over 90 years ago, when William Pye, having trained as an engineer in the Barrow Shipyards, decided to set up on his own and used his engineering knowledge to start a motor repair business. William was soon joined by his younger brother, George, and the very first Pye Motors workshop on Fleet Square was established. It was the dawn of the automobile industry and an incredibly exciting time for the Pye brothers!
Over the years, the business grew and developed – with our winning combination of high quality customer service and a huge choice of new and used cars proving a hit in the local area. We expanded further in 1996 with a new branch in Barrow-in-Furness. Then, the following year, we took over the Ford franchise in Kendal, making us one of the largest dealers in the Bay area – combining one of the largest geographical Ford areas in the UK.
We’re proud of our history and the way that Pye has grown from a small operation being led by the Pye Brothers, to now employing over 140 local people across three branches. Better still, the quality of our customer care has thrived with every expansion, and we pride ourselves on our ability to have maintained a level of customer care normally associated with smaller businesses.
David Swallow at Pye Motors, said: “Our 90+ years of great customer service have been instrumental in us being able to expand from a single workshop in Lancaster to three branches across the North West. I am incredibly proud of our friendly and knowledgeable team. They continue to go above and beyond to deliver unrivalled, top quality customer service.”
