Spring has sprung and it’s the best time of year to grab that hose and sponge and show your ford some TLC! After a long winter a thorough clean will help to maintain the value of your car and reduce the risk of long-term corrosion damage. So, if you’ve been putting it off, now’s the perfect time…
Inside
All those wet shoes and clothes have been bringing in moisture over the last few months and without the heat or good ventilation, your car may have not properly dried out.
It’s always important to fully check the inside of your vehicle for any water damage after winter and catch it early. In particular, watch out for wet patches under the carpets, they’re a sign of rain water penetration and can lead to serious corrosion so should be investigated thoroughly.
Outside
Remove all the winter grime from your paintwork and polish up your ford to give it that sparkle back. We find it’s best to work from the top down to let any stubborn dirt at the bottom soak. Making sure all the shampoo is rinsed off and paying particular attention to the undersides of doors and sills makes for a perfect finish.
Don’t forget to attend to minor areas of corrosion and stone chips. They will only get worse if left, but if the winter has left you with some extensive corrosion, it’s best to hand it to the experts.
Underneath
The underside of your car takes the worst hit over winter. Mud soaks-up salt laden spray and, if left, will cause corrosion over time so it’s important to make sure you fully wash down the whole underside, paying particular attention to the front and back wheel arches.
Tyres
You should check your tyres regularly but if you haven't in a while now is the perfect time. Check your tyres carefully for tread and the general condition including cuts, splits and bulges.
Giving your Ford a full spring clean will help to maintain the car's value, reduce the risk of long-term corrosion damage and help ensure you reach your destination with no unexpected breakdowns!
