Question 1

What are the advantages of HP?

Accepted Answer

You’ll be able to drive away a car that you may not have managed to buy outright. Unlike a PCP or PCH contract, you won't need to estimate your mileage at the start of your Hire Purchase agreement, so you'll avoid excess mileage charges. Once you’ve made your final monthly payment, including the option to purchase fee, you'll have full ownership of the car.

Question 2

What should you consider when opting for HP?

Accepted Answer

Monthly payments may be higher than some other finance options, such as PCP, as you're paying off the full value of the car. You won’t be able to sell the car without settling the finance. You won’t own the car until you have made all of your repayments. You’ll need to keep the car properly insured, maintained and in your possession until the full value is paid off.

Question 3

Can I settle my HP agreement early?

Accepted Answer

The short answer is yes, you can end your finance early. There are different provisions within each finance agreement that allows you to do just that. If you have got through two-thirds of the way through your finance agreement, the options to end the finance agreement early open up. For a Hire Purchase agreement, there is an option of paying it off early through a settlement fee. A settlement fee covers the cost of any remaining unpaid instalments and interest payments remaining on the agreement. Once the settlement fee is paid, you take full ownership of the car early.

Question 4

Do I qualify for Motability?

Accepted Answer

If you receive either the Higher Rate mobility component of the disabled living allowance or a War Pensioners allowance, then the answer is yes, you qualify for Motability. The only condition is that you have at least 12 months award remaining. There are no credit checks or other restrictions.

Question 5

Can I apply on someone else's behalf?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If you are a relative or carer to someone who claims the allowance (recognised by the DWP as an appointee). The only condition is that the car is used for the benefit of the disabled person. This can involve travelling in the vehicle or a driver running errands for the disabled person.

Question 6

I don't drive, can I still apply?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can still obtain a vehicle and choose up to two other people to drive for you. If you are a parent or carer to a child who receives the allowance, you can also apply.

Question 7

How much does it cost to buy your motability car?

Accepted Answer

Your choice of car is not limited to our entry-level vehicles, we can ensure you don't sacrifice style, performance, and the latest technology. Should you choose a vehicle that is over your allowance for the leasing period then the difference will be assigned as an advance payment which will be paid when you pick up your car. Our dedicated motability vehicle search page indicates what potential advance payments may be due so you can gauge the full cost of the car as you browse. Our Pye Motability specialists can take you through the options, what your allowance includes, and confirm any contributions you would have to make to ensure you can drive the vehicle you want.

Question 8

How long does it take to get a motability car?

Accepted Answer

Delivery times can vary depending on the type of vehicle you have ordered and the modifications required. The Pye team will be able to advise an estimated delivery time when you have chosen your preferred option, and will keep you updated as your order progresses. Please Note : If you already have a vehicle as part of the Motability Car scheme, your current lease agreement needs to have expired before you can collect your new car.

Question 9

Do you supply Ford parts anywhere in the country?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we can deliver Ford parts throughout the UK but you may need to pay a carriage charge.

Question 10

How does PCP actually work?

Accepted Answer

When you have chosen your vehicle, you will then agree your annual mileage and decide on the agreement term with one of our Business Managers. We will then determine the Guaranteed Minimum Future Value (GMFV) of the vehicle at the end of the agreement and work out a deposit and monthly amount that works for you. At the end of your agreement you will then have three options: Return – Simply return the car the back to us Retain – Keep the car by paying the optional final payment Renew – Trade it in for another car For a quotation, help, or advice contact us and ask to speak to one of our Business Managers

Question 11

What are the advantages of PCP?

Accepted Answer

Monthly payments on a car financed by PCP are usually lower than if your car is financed by a Hire Purchase agreement. If you decide not to buy the car, you can simply walk away when you've made all the payments. Similar to PCH, you can drive away a new or used car every few years (dependent on the chosen term) without worrying about selling it on. If your car is worth more than the Guaranteed Future Value then you can use that equity towards a deposit on a new car.

Question 12

What should you consider when opting for a PCP?

Accepted Answer

If you want to buy the car you will need to pay your final balloon payment (the Guaranteed Future Value). Similar to PCH, you will need to agree on a mileage allowance at the beginning of your contract and there may be excess mileage charges if you exceed this. You won’t be able to sell the car without settling the finance. You won’t own the car until you have made all of your repayments. You’ll need to keep the car properly insured, maintained and in your possession until the full value is paid off.

Question 13

Can I settle my PCP agreement early?

Accepted Answer

You can normally settle your agreement early by asking the finance company to provide you with a settlement figure. However, the finance company will require you to pay off the difference between what your car is worth, and what you still owe and there may be a difference which is known as negative equity. On the other hand, you may find that at the end of your term your car is worth more than the Guaranteed Future Value, which means you will have some positive equity to contribute towards your next car.

Question 34

Accepted Answer

Yes. We can provide you with a courtesy car which must be booked in advance. We do have a limited amount and they do book up quickly so please try to give us plenty of notice as they are allocated on a first come, first served basis. The good news is that they are free of charge, all we ask is that you put in your own fuel whilst it is in your use. We also have a few other rules such as no smoking and no furry friends but other than that you’re good to go!!

Question 35

Can I wait with my car whilst it is with you?

Accepted Answer

We are more than happy for you to wait with your vehicle, so much so we have a specific area in our lovely new showroom where we can keep you topped up with tea or coffee and you can take advantage of our free wi-fi if you need to. Question 36

Do you offer a payment plan for my services?

Accepted Answer

We are pleased to say we can you offer you a great service plan which is tailored to you and your vehicle. You chose how many years servicing you want to include and any MOTs and extras such as Brake Fluid Change, we then calculate a simple monthly payment which is inflation proof and interest free so you don’t have to worry about a large bill when you come in as it’s all taken care of!! This really is a great way to pay for your servicing in advance, we liken it to a savings club and it’s easy to set up with a monthly direct debit from your bank account. Alternatively you can pay for the full amount in advance and take advantage of the inflation proof prices.

Question 37

How long will my car be with you?

Accepted Answer

This is a bit trickier to answer as each case is individual. When you are booking for service and MOT we can give you a good idea of the length of time the work will take us. However this may change on the day if we found we needed to carry out any unexpected work. It is more difficult for us to give a definite time if we are carrying out investigation work. Generally we allow an hour to carry out any initial diagnostic work and then go from there. What we can say for definite is that we will always keep you informed every step of way so you are always kept up to date. We completely understand that it takes a great deal of planning to be without your car for any length of time so with that in mind we always try to make it as convenient as we can for you by asking if need it back for a specific time and we will always do our best to make sure this happens.

Question 38

What do I need to bring with me to my appointment?

Accepted Answer

The most important things to bring are you and your car! Other than that, if your vehicle is in for service it would be great if you could leave your locking wheel nut tool out for us and also remember to bring your service book so we can bring it up to date for you. We no longer need you to bring your old MOT certificate as we can access all the information we need on-line. If you are booked with a Courtesy Car it’s really important to remember your driving licence for insurance reasons.

Question 39

What options are there for me if all the courtesy cars are booked?

Accepted Answer

If we are unable to provide you with a car there are a number of things we can do to help out. We are able to collect and deliver your car from your home or work address, there are some areas out of a range but a quick phone call can confirm if this option is suitable for you. We are also happy to give you a lift locally if you would prefer to bring the car yourself although we can’t promise we won’t sing during the drive! If you really would prefer a replacement vehicle we are happy to help you locate one from a local hire company where we can use our contacts to get you some great rates.

Question 40

Will this be covered by warranty?

Accepted Answer

It’s really difficult to confirm a problem will be covered by warranty over the telephone. The reason for this is at this stage we don’t know what has caused the fault to happen. Generally we are looking for a manufacturing defect for it to be covered, in your owner’s manual you will find a section relating to warranty which will give you a better idea of what is and isn’t covered. There may be different conditions if you have an extended warranty with us but we will always happy to explain these too you and if we know you have an extended warranty we will approach this route first. If a fault is down to wear and tear then unfortunately it won’t be covered, eg worn brake pads but we will always offer the best possible prices for your repair.
