Air Con Servicing – Why Should You Book Yours This Summer?

By Pye Motors

We’ve heard the sun will be coming out again soon which is brilliant news as it feels like we’ve skipped summer so far this year!

Living in Britain means we don’t often have the chance to use our air cons in our cars, but of course, when it’s nice and sunny we often find ourselves switching up the cool air.

In preparation for a July/August heatwave (fingers crossed) we’re offering an air con service for £49.95, instead of the usual price of £69.95.

But you might still be wondering why it’s so important to have your air con serviced, especially if it appears to be working normally. An air con system is no different to a car engine, in the way that it needs to be serviced periodically in just the same way to make sure everything is working properly.

Sometimes air cons can blow either no cold air, too much cold air, or very little. Although this can be frustrating (especially if it’s hot outside), it doesn’t mean the system has failed, it just means the source of the fault should be traced. If it is blowing too much cold air, there is probably a blockage somewhere in the system that is forcing more air than normal out of all vents upstream from the blockage. An air conditioning system that is not blowing enough cold air usually has a leak somewhere in the system.

The air conditioning system in a car is made up of six major components, these are:

  • Compressor
  • Condenser
  • Evaporator
  • Receiver drier
  • Expansion valve
  • The refrigerant

Because of the complexity of the interconnected components, it can be quite costly to have a faulty air con system repaired. It is typically easier and cheaper to repair a car’s air conditioning system at the first sign of trouble rather than ignoring the problem and allowing it to develop into a much more costly repair later on. It is much better to take your vehicle to a garage and to have the problem diagnosed by professionals who can recognise any early signs of potential trouble.

If you want to make sure your air conditioning system is working efficiently and safely in time for our delayed summer heatwave, make sure you take advantage of our discounted rate of £49.95 and call to book your service in with Pye Motors – get in touch with us here.
