Pye Motors Limited was established in 1925 by William Pye, in premises located in Fleet Square, Lancaster.

Motor and electrical repairs were undertaken in the early days.

1935 Pye Motors get a visit from the RAC observed economy trail for a Hillman Minx. How far on 50 shillings.

In 1937 the company moved to the Parliament Street headquarters at a cost of £29,000 to build.

After the war Pye Motors acquired Rootes franchise for cars, vans and trucks.

1952 A.E. Hillmans Garage of Morecambe was taken over and headed by Tony Payne
(The brother in law of Jim Pye).This also operated as a Rootes depot and also Ford in 1970.

17th Febuaury 1970 the company became a Ford Main Dealers and in 1986 the appointment as Iveco-FordTruck Specialists was confirmed.

After the sale of A.E Hillmans The site at Northgate Whitelund Ind Morecambe was opened.

1989 the purchase of the site at Yealand was completed. Selling new and used cars with workshop and petrol sales.( The price of petrol on the sign says 59.9p a Litre )

November 1994 work completed the Company moves to Ovangle Road Site between Lancaster & Morecambe.


The six acre site, offers a fantastic new and used car display .

In 1996 Pye Motors extended with the purchase of the Ford Main Dealer in Barrow-in-Furness.

Then, 6 months later took over the franchise for Kendal, making Pye Motors the largest dealer in the Bay area, combining one of the largest geographical Ford areas in the UK.
